St. Rita 11, Oak Lawn 1: Connor McLain?s two-run single in the bottom of the fifth secured the season-opening win for St. Rita. Troy Payton added a two-run double for the Mustangs to support Mike Costanzo, who allowed one run on two hits over four innings.
Bloomington 1-4, Stagg 0-5: Vito Cali had an RBI single in the top of the seventh and scored the winning run on a wild pitch to propel visiting Stagg (1-1) in Game 2. Drew Bolero added two RBI for the Chargers.

Windy City Ram Classic
Lincoln-Way West 2, Willowbrook 1 (SO): Kayla Lojas made four saves as Lincoln-Way West (3-1) captured third place by virtue of a 2-0 edge in the penalty-kick shootout at Reavis. Emily Wyskiel scored in regulation for the Warriors, who also benefitted from shootout goals from Kara Winans and Lea Gindville. In the fifth-place match, T.F. United beat Romeoville 5-1. Leyden topped Queen of Peace 5-0 in the consolation championship
Bremen 2, Richards 1 (SO): Melissa Macias had the goal in regulation for Bremen in the seventh-place match.
Mount Assisi 1, De La Salle 0: Maddie Peters scored off an assist from Danielle Herbst to lift Mount Assisi (2-2).
Reavis 3, Eisenhower 1: Goals by Celeste Lara, Naomi Guzman and Alexis Delgado propelled Reavis (2-2). Mireya Botello had the goal for Eisenhower (1-3).
Badminton
Hersey Invitational: Team point totals were not provided for the meet in which Lincoln-Way East finished fourth. The Griffins were led by Caitlin Duffner and Bri Michaels (No. 1 doubles), who came in third.
Boys Water Polo
Hinsdale South quadrangular: Jake Elias finished with nine goals as Lockport beat Andrew 14-3, Hinsdale South 19-6 and St. Charles East 11-5 to win the title. John Goetz aided the cause for the Porters by making 41 saves. Mike Tamulonis scored the decisive goal for Andrew in its 13-12 win over St. Charles East. Alex Gacek and Nick Bancato each netted hat tricks for the Thunderbolts in their remaining match, a 19-8 victory over Hinsdale South.
Girls Water Polo
Bremen co-op Invitational: Paige Weiser provided five goals in leading Marian Catholic past Bremen co-op 13-5 in the third-place match of the two-day tournament. Stagg?s Anahi Torres also scored five times as the Chargers captured fifth place by virtue of a 12-9 win over Richards co-op.
Naperville Central Invitational: Clare Byar scored four goals as Mother McAuley defeated Naperville Central 9-5 in the championship. Amy Kopale added a hat trick for the Mighty Macs, who went 3-0 in the weekend tournament. Amy Schloen netted three goals in leading Homewood-Flossmoor past Mundelein 7-3 in the third-place match.
Boys Indoor Track & Field
Armer Invitational: James Harriel won the long jump (22 feet, 4 inches) as Bloom (48 points) finished second behind North Lawndale (49) in the 29-team meet at the University of Illinois. Lincoln-Way Central (43) came in fourth, thanks in part to Joel Swanberg, who was tops in the 60-meter high hurdles (8.434 seconds). Other first-place winners were Lincoln-Way North?s Julian Hylton in the 200-meter dash (22.65 seconds) and Shepard?s Londell Lee in the high jump (6-6).
Girls Indoor Track & Field
Armer Invitational: Alexis Hyshaw won the 60-meter dash (7.65) and 200 dash (25.17) in guiding Lincoln-Way East (81.50) to top honors in the 37-team field at the University of Illinois. The Griffins also prevailed in the mile relay (4:03.45) and 2-mile relay (10:01.07).
College Baseball
Purdue-North Central 5-5, St. Xavier 2-4: Tony O?Shea (5-for-6) and Jim Augle each registered two RBI for St. Xavier (6-6) in the 12-inning nightcap in Winterhaven, Fla. Chris Klein and Jim Augle contributed runs for the Cougars in the opener.
Men?s Volleyball
Siena Heights 18-20-25-25-15, St. Xavier 25-25-13-18-9: Justin Cousin had 14 kills and Dan French added 33 assists for visiting St. Xavier (5-18, 3-9) in the East Division of the Mid-America Men?s Volleyball Intercollegiate Conference.
